“I thought full stop didn’t feel like going because of her period,” whispered hyphen.
“Oh, no,” said semicolon, “that’s not full stop; that’s dot, one of the ellipsis sisters.”
Well, considered hyphen as he prepared to dash off, it had been a confusing story but now it seemed he’d be able to join the dots...

i
i as a thing with a body
must feel endlessly.
opening, blooming,
closing, wilting:
i flower
and the sky falls upon me.
i am the root, the stem, the rain.
when this bedrock allows
for no more following --
then i must lead,
if i wish to breathe.
i as a thing with a body
have no lungs to speak of
and must compensate
with twigs,
and pixels,
and distance without schematic
with falling, for a lilac while
and ending things before they begin.
when i am hurt
i must not be hurt.
i as a thing with a body
must never be hurt:
to be hurt is surely to die,
and to die is to be unknown.
to be unknown is to have roots
but no stem
no petal.

Synesthetic
Sometimes I taste test names;
Anita – sharp citrus
and lemongrass
for the ann-i,
a tortilla for the taa.
Brad – I like
its weight; a slab
of marbled chocolate
melted on my tongue
before the last letter.
Charlotte – something
savory, but sweet; pork
marinated in honey
on sweet rolls.
Doug – vanilla
tinged cheesecake;
a dusting of graham
cracker shavings;
an Oreo with no filling.
Elena – spice
and heat radiate –
eh-layne-ahh – a corona
bursting from
the second e.
Fletcher – it’s syllables
mesh like mashed
potatoes, lumpy yet
consistent.
Gladys – dried
lemons and stale

the words i never said in the place i never was
I rattled my can of cherry cola and lifted up my right index finger, pointing at him as I nudged the words,
"Ya think this'll get me into hell?"
He smirked like he always does, staring back out at the rest of the world. I nearly toppled over in my swing, rocking back and forth like a child; the playground isn't restricted towards teenagers, so we come here every Thursday afternoon. Throwing my head backwards, I was careful to make sure the lilies and daises in my hair wouldn't flutter out. It took enough effort to get off the swing, who knows how much it would be to get back on again?
(I'm lazy too; there's another excuse for you)

55 words. And three sentences.
Written for Flash Fiction Month 2014: Day 15.
Challenge #7: Threesome
As befits the third week of such a third-class writing event, there are THREE elements to today's challenge for triple the fun. That's right, 3 for the price of 1!
So I polished up my semicolon and had at it...

- Element TWO: Your story must feature something usually found in threes.
- Element THREE: Post a three word summary of your story with the link.
So I polished up my semicolon and had at it...
